UG Program in Textile Design & Technology equips students to gain multi- disciplinary skills that equips them to handle different roles right from designing fabrics to the production of the product. Students gain comprehensive understanding of technology and commercial viability and the way the textile industry functions in the export and the domestic market. This course will help students to grow as creative leaders, as industry and independent practitioners at the cutting-edge of the Indian and global textile industry.
The program aims for students to gain an in-depth understanding of the ‘Lifestyle Product’ in fashion, interiors, and automotive market segment from a textile perspective. A focus on ‘Smart (tech-based) Textiles’ research and development will help students to drive innovation across various industries like automobile manufacturing, medical supplies manufacturing, sports equipment manufacturing etc. This will also create highly skilled research- oriented design jobs for graduates.
The course will provide students to test out ideas through prototyping, experimentation, live projects and digital platform storytelling, and leverage the interaction between new technologies and traditional craft processes.
